About SDRI

The Social Development Research Initiative (SDRI) was established in 2009 by a group of researchers who recognised that much could be gained from promoting rigorous mixed-methods research in international development. SDRI was set up to coordinate research projects concerned with reducing poverty and enhancing well-being, and to develop and promote innovative approaches to social research in developing countries. Our philosophy combines a concern for reducing poverty and inequality, a recognition of the need for better mixed-methods social research in international development, and the need for this research to inform social and public policy. SDRI is coordinated by Peter Davis, a development sociologist, based in Bath, UK.
