Brooks World Poverty Institute (BWPI) The Brooks World Poverty Institute is a multidisciplinary centre of global excellence researching poverty, poverty reduction, inequality and growth in both the developed and developing worlds. Centre for Development Studies (CDS) CDS is the Centre for Development Studies at the University of Bath. CDS aims to contribute to combating global poverty and inequality through primary research into the practical realities of global poverty and critical engagement with development practice and policy making. SDRI fellows Graham Brown and Séverine Deneulin are members of CDS. Centre for Research on Inequality, Human Security, and Ethnicity (CRISE) CRISE is a DFID-funded Development Research Centre at the University of Oxford researching why some multiethnic countries experience political instability and violent conflict, and others maintain the stability necessary for the promotion of human security, including sustainable growth and poverty reduction. SDRI research fellow Graham Brown is a CRISE research associate. Chronic Poverty Research Centre (CPRC) The Chronic Poverty Research Centre (CPRC) is an international partnership of universities, research institutes and NGOs which exists to focus attention on chronic poverty. It aims to stimulate national and international debate; deepen understanding of the causes of chronic poverty; and provide research, analysis and policy guidance that will contribute to its reduction. SDRI coordinator Peter Davis is a researcher with CPRC. Data Analysis and Technical Assistance Limited, Bangladesh DATA Bangladesh is a research consulting firm to applying its technical expertise in support of finding solutions to pressing social and economic challenges in Bangladesh. Its uniqueness as an organization stems from the honest devotion, efficiency, and high quality work of its staff and the prioritization of client satisfaction over profit. SDRI fellows Peter Davis and Bob Baulch are collaborating with DATA Bangladesh in a major study of poverty dynamics. Human Development and Capability Association (HDCA) Launched in September 2004, the Human Development and Capability Association promotes high quality research in the interconnected areas of human development and capability. It is concerned with research in these areas across a broad range of topics where the human development and capability approaches have made and can make significant contributions, including the quality of life, poverty, justice, gender, development and environment inter alia. SDRI fellow Séverine Deneulin is Education Officer for the HDCA. International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks sustainable solutions for ending hunger and poverty. IFPRI is one of 15 centers supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), an alliance of 64 governments, private foundations, and international and regional organizations. SDRI coordinator Peter Davis is working closely with Agnes Quisumbing and other IFPRI researchers. International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) 3ie is incorporated in the United States as a non-profit organization. It channels funds to high-quality, independent impact evaluation studies. JICA Research Institute JICA Research Institute is the research centre for the Japan International Cooperation Agency. NETZ Partnership for Development and Justice NETZ is a German NGO that has worked since 1989 in development cooperation with local NGOs in Bangladesh Overseas Development Institute (ODI) ODI is an independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues. Their mission is to inspire and inform policy and practice which lead to the reduction of poverty, the alleviation of suffering and the achievement of sustainable livelihoods in developing countries. Oxford Policy Management (OPM) OPM is an international development consultancy group that provides high quality analysis, advice and support in the design and implementation of economic and social development policies. Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) The Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) is a research centre within the Oxford Department of International Development, Queen Elizabeth House, at the University of Oxford. Led by Sabina Alkire, OPHI aspires to build a more systematic methodological and economic framework to underlie poverty reduction. SDRI fellow Séverine Deneulin is an OPHI research associate. Prosperity Initiative The Prosperity Initiative is a community interest company which aims to develop market sectors to create prosperity for large numbers of poor people in Viet Nam, Lao PDR, and Cambodia. SDRI Fellow Bob Baulch is lead economist for the Prosperity Initiative. Real 2 Reel Film Productions Real 2 Reel Film Productions is a production company active in Tanzania and East Africa doing all types of film and television work including documenting the work of development organisations and producing dynamic Swahili music videos. Systemwide Program on Collective Action and Property Rights (CAPRi) The Systemwide Program on Collective Action and Property Rights (CAPRi) is one of several inter-center initiatives of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) created to foster research and promote collaboration on institutional aspects of natural resource management between CGIAR research centers, national agricultural research institutions, and other sources. Its Secretariat is hosted by the Environment and Production Technology Division of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Washington, DC. The program stresses comparative research that yields international public goods. The conceptual framework deals explicitly with the effect of differences in the biophysical, socioeconomic, and policy environment. At the same time, we recognize the value of comparisons that cut across countries, ecoregions, and resources. An understanding of the factors that facilitate effective local organizations and appropriate property regimes in one resource sector can be provide valuable insights for another resource. Wellbeing in Developing Countries Research Group The Wellbeing in Developing Countries Research Group at Bath began with a major multi-country interdisciplinary study funded by the Economic and Social Research Council 2002-7. It now continues with an ongoing program of research, engagement and teaching. It also hosts the WeD Network, a forum for exchange of information on initiatives worldwide on wellbeing in developing countries. World Institute for Development Economics Research (WIDER) WIDER is the first research and training centre established in 1984 in Helsinki by the United Nations University (UNU). UNU is an international academic organization which promotes the UN's aims of peace and progress by providing a framework for bringing together leading scholars from around the world to tackle pressing global problems. Activities are carried out by the UNU Headquarters and its network of research and training centres and collaborating institutions world-wide.
